Couple photography is the centerpiece of every wedding album. Whether you're camera-shy or a natural poser, having a curated list of couple poses ensures your photographer captures a diverse, stunning gallery. Here are 25 poses we've perfected across hundreds of Indian weddings. See them in action in our couple portraits gallery.
Classic Romantic Poses
1. The Forehead Kiss — Timeless and universally flattering. The groom gently kisses the bride's forehead while she closes her eyes. Works beautifully in golden hour light.
2. The Back Hug — The groom wraps his arms around the bride from behind. She holds his hands and looks away from the camera. Creates intimacy without being overtly posed.
3. Walking Hand-in-Hand — Shot from behind as the couple walks through a corridor or garden path. The lehenga trail creates a dramatic leading line.
4. The Lean-In Whisper — The groom whispers something (ideally funny) into the bride's ear, capturing a genuine laugh. This is candid magic at its finest.
5. The Dupatta Frame — Using the bride's dupatta as a frame around both faces creates an intimate, cocoon-like portrait.
Dramatic & Editorial Poses
6. The Silhouette — Shot against a sunset or backlit doorway, only the couple's outline is visible. Incredibly cinematic.
7. The Reflection Shot — Using a water body, marble floor, or even a phone screen to capture reflections doubles the visual impact.
8. The Power Stance — Both standing side by side, looking directly at the camera with confidence. Modern, magazine-worthy.
9. The Twirl — The bride spins while holding the groom's hand. The lehenga creates a stunning circular motion blur when shot at a slower shutter speed.
10. The Low-Angle Hero Shot — Shot from ground level looking up, with the sky or architecture as backdrop. Makes the couple look larger than life.
Candid & Fun Poses
11-15. The Piggyback, The Run, The Lift, The Dance Dip, The High-Five — These action poses generate genuine laughter and joy. We give minimal direction and capture the authentic reactions.
16-20. The Nose Touch, Sitting Back-to-Back, The Over-the-Shoulder Look, The Staircase Pose, The Window Frame — These use architectural elements and natural body language for editorial-quality results.
Tips for Camera-Shy Couples
If posing feels awkward, don't worry—most of our best shots come from prompts, not poses. We'll ask you to walk, whisper, dance, or play a quick game. The key is movement and interaction. When you're focused on each other, the camera becomes invisible. We always recommend a pre-wedding shoot as practice—by your wedding day, you'll be completely comfortable in front of our lenses. Book a consultation to discuss your comfort level.
