Drone photography has revolutionized Indian wedding videography by adding a cinematic, bird's-eye dimension that was previously impossible. At Blessed Moments, we've been using drones since 2020, and the results speak for themselves—sweeping aerial shots of baraat processions, dramatic mandap reveals, and stunning venue panoramas. Check out our aerial gallery to see the impact.
DGCA Regulations You Must Know
Before flying any drone at a wedding, you must comply with India's DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) regulations. As of 2026, drones under 250g (nano category) don't require registration, but anything larger needs a UIN (Unique Identification Number) and a valid Remote Pilot Licence. No-fly zones include airports (within 5km), military installations, and certain government buildings. Most wedding venues in Delhi NCR fall outside these zones, but always verify. We carry all necessary permits and insurance, giving our clients complete peace of mind.
Best Drone Shots for Indian Weddings
The Baraat Orbit — A slow 360° orbit around the groom on the horse/car creates an epic opening sequence for the wedding film. The Venue Reveal — Starting from 400 feet and slowly descending into the mandap is breathtaking. The Couple Top-Down — A directly overhead shot of the couple lying on a floral rangoli or lehenga spread creates iconic, Instagram-worthy images. The Vidaai Pullback — As the bride departs, the drone pulls back slowly, showing the entire family gathered, creating a deeply emotional cinematic moment.
Technical Considerations
Battery life is the biggest constraint—most professional drones offer 30-40 minutes of flight per battery. We carry 8-10 charged batteries per event. Wind speed above 20 km/h makes flying risky, and night flights require additional lighting modules. We use the DJI Mavic 3 Pro for its incredible Hasselblad camera system and the DJI Mini 4 Pro as a backup. For indoor drone shots (very popular during sangeet), we use tiny CineWhoop drones that are cage-protected and quiet. Learn more about our full cinematic packages that include drone coverage.
When NOT to Use a Drone
Drones aren't appropriate during intimate, quiet ceremonies like the pheras or emotional vidaai speeches—the buzzing noise is distracting. We strategically deploy drones during high-energy outdoor moments (baraat, outdoor games, fireworks) and venue establishing shots. This thoughtful approach ensures the technology enhances rather than disrupts your wedding experience.
